University of study: National University of Ireland - Galway
          Graduatiuon year: 2016
Programme completed: LL.M in Disability Law and Policy

          Occupation:
          Intern (03/10 to 11/11/2016)
          Current employer:
Office of the UN special rapportur on the rights of persons with disabilities, Switzerland
          Projects completed:
          1. From August 2016: In Mozambique Bar Association I joined Pro bono legal assistance for poor people and under this work I started to collect cases of imprisoned persons with intellectual disabilities in the Maputo in order to find out the condition of their imprisonment and provide the necessary legal assistance. Initially this will include Jail of Maximum Security (BO), Central Jail of Machava, Civil Jail and Ndlavela Jail for Women, all in Maputo City and Province. Note that I interrupted this work at the and of September in order to attend the internship in eneve.

          2. Capacity Building for DPOs in Mozambique – with funding from UKAid, provided technical support in capacity building for DPOs in Mozambique, through the Mozambican Federation of Associations of Persons with Disabilities. This including awareness raising on the rights of persons with disability particularly for education of children with disabilities. This program me involved communities (parents of CWD and community members in general), Schools (school’s managers, teachers and staff) and Government/State (Ministry of education and its representations at different levels).

          3. Voices Programme – This project aimed to provide voice for persons with disabilities in 3 provinces of Mozambique using community radios in 10 districts, with initial funding from the Big Lottery - UK and later with funding from the EU. Using the official language (Portuguese) and the local languages, selected persons with disabilities (man and women) were trained in basic journalism, then collected, prepared and broadcasted radio programs on the rights of persons with disabilities, discussed cases of violation of their rights that came out in their communities showing the ways to prevent and how to address similar cases in the future. They discussed and broadcasted specific laws that could address the violations they suffered, like the recent law against domestic violence in Mozambique. This work involved persons with disabilities and communities in general, DPOs, Ministry of the Interior (Police) through the cabinet for victims of domestic violence and the then Ministry of Women and Social Action – the Ministry that dealt with issues relating to persons with disabilities. Specific laws were chosen by persons with disabilities, according to their relevance in their community (violation of their rights), lawyers were involved in putting those laws in easy reading language, explained to selected project implementers with disabilities and discussed in radio programs, meetings and seminars held in the communities.

          4. Capacity Building for Disability Sector in Mozambique – another EU funded program, from which the main outcome was the first Mozambican Action Plan for Disability 2006 – 2011. It was also under this project that the civil society did put pressure to Mozambique authorities to sign and rectify the UNCRPD. This are the main projects I implemented in disability sector from 2002. However, my experience include implementation of child protection programs (for children in general) from 2004 to 2009.
