I successfuly led ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child in the Republic of South Sudan through sustained advocacy and lobbying with Members of Parliament and civil society organisations. I also led a successful legal advocacy to file firstever public interest petition before the Supreme Court of the Republic of South Sudan seeking declaratory orders to end child marriage in South Sudan.

            Since graduating, I have intensely worked with diverse human right movements in Kenya covering; women, refugees and asylum seekers, sexual and gender minorities and stateless persons. At the Kenya Human Rights Commission, I engaged with the Green Amendment Campaign whose objective was to increase women representation in elective government positions. The campaign involved, creating awareness on importance of women to vie for leadership positions and collection of signatures to account for the popular initiative. I assisted in the drafting of the national action plan for stateless persons, focusing on late registration of births and ensuring that no child is born stateless. I wrote an action plan on the “security reforms to curb violence against LGBTI persons focusing in Kwale, Nakuru, Kisumu and Mombasa counties. At the National Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission, I was involved in writing alternative reports (CEDAW and Convention against Acts of Torture), press statements, newsletters, training of stakeholders on LGBTI rights in Kenya. I was part of a research team that produced a report on the ‘Lived Experiences of LBQ women in Kenya' as well as the reference person for Kenya in drafting and monitoring the SOGIE online module toolkit for National Human Rights Institution based on Yogyakarta principles.
